Elizabeth Johnston, LCSW

Beth received her bachelor’s degree from Northern Illinois University in Family and Individual Development and her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Aurora University. Beth has worked in the social service field since 2013. Beth has previous experience working in the hospital setting, teaching parenting classes to teen mothers, working in community mental health, and providing in-home therapy to children with autism.

Beth has worked as a school social worker since 2015, and in the private practice setting since 2019. Beth’s previous treatment experiences have given her the opportunity to work with children, adults, and families with a variety of needs and an array of backgrounds. Beth’s experience includes facilitating relational conflict resolution, emotional regulation, empowerment, skill development, psychoeducation, mental and behavioral health, and other individual needs. Beth primarily practices with children, adolescents, and young adults.

Beth’s treatment philosophy is person-centered to help clients facilitate personal growth during the difficult periods of life while maintaining a safe, empathetic, and therapeutic environment. Beth uses a holistic, strengths based approach with every client. Beth integrates system theory in her treatment, because all facets of life impact overall wellbeing. Beth believes all people have the capability to do well when provided with the appropriate support and tools.

Beth has been with Glenwood Center since October of 2023. Beth uses an integrated therapeutic approach. She is certified to work with domestic violence victims and their families. She is also certified in DBT and Trauma Focused CBT.
